Could you briefly introduce yourself?

I am a co-founder of the Icinga Project and CEO at NETWAYS, a German open source service company. As a core member of DevOpsDays organizers, I try to spread the DevOps spirit wherever and whenever possible. I am a very proud father and love Burgers, Gin & Tonic.

Have you enjoyed previous PostgreSQL conferences, either as attendee or as speaker?

Yes, i have been to two conferences and I really enjoyed it. It was easy to see that this is a really community event and people know each other for years. It felt very familiar but it was als very welcoming.

What will your talk be about, exactly? Why this topic?

I will talk about "Monitoring Open Source Databases with Icinga". Thinking about how my project fits into a database conference i thought this would be the best idea. The talks gives a really short introduction to Icinga. An focusses mainly on the Icinga configuration for database monitoring. Using advanced techniques like rules, loops and usage of the ITL (Icinga Template Library).

What is the audience for your talk?

The talk fits to everyone who is interested in monitoring his databases and|or server infrastructure with Icinga. If you are using Icinga already, the talk will show you advanced methods for your existing setup and make it even more clear how Icinga is making your monitoring life easier compared to other solution out there.

What existing knowledge should the attendee have?

My audience should have a general understanding of databases (of course) and basic system administration.
